The population of older drivers (65 and older) is on the rise in the US. In response, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) created the Older Driver Program to educate these drivers and their families about medical conditions that may affect older driver safety.  I wrote the NHTSA 5-Year Strategic Plan for the Older Driver Program, which was nationally disseminated and posted on the agency's public website. In addition, I wrote and edited fact sheets about some of the physical, cognitive, and visual changes older drivers may experience over time, such as Alzheimer’s disease, vision disorders (glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration), stroke, sleep apnea, Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes.
