NIH RCDC Public Information Campaign

For decades, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) used a composite approach to report funding for its research portfolio, which included individual reports from each of its 17 Institutes and Centers. The NIH Office of the Director determined the need for a new reporting system, and hired me to write a background paper that served as the foundation for what became the Research, Condition, and Disease Categorization (RCDC) process. This opportunity required that I interview experts in what was for me a totally new subject area with its own jargon. Once I wrote the background paper, I used it to write the strategic communications plan for the RCDC public information campaign.
